YLW Passenger Travel Increases
Passenger travel numbers are up at Kelowna’s International Airport (YLW), serving 1,732,113 passengers in 2016, an increase of over 140,000 travelers over the previous year.
Airport Director, Sam Samaddar, relates the increased passenger traffic due to new routes and airlines, with increased capacity to sought-after destinations.
The latest route announcement coming from West-Jet adding a red-eye to Toronto, running from May 18 to June 29, four times a week.
YLW’s Mater Plan anticipates serving 3.5 million annual passenger traffic by 2045.
The UBCO/Airport area has seen tremendous change over the last decade, with the addition of Kelowna’s number 1 hotel Four Points by Sheraton Kelowna Airport, and plans for an additional hotel at the site.
