UBCO's Live Case Challenge - Sponsored by Argus Properties
UBCO's Live Case Challenge sponsored by Argus Properties Ltd. started on April 2, 2014, and culminated with final presentations by students to judges on Apr. 4, 2014. The third year Faculty of Management students were in competition to see who could come up with the best pitch for Okanagan Similkameen Healthy Living Coalition on a variety of cases regarding the engagement of our youth in physical extracurricular activities, the improvement of overall health and fitness using community gardens, and using social media to educate. The students had 3 days to come up with a full business plan encompassing a mission statement, financial strategies and risks, and developing a marketing plan on how to sell the idea to Okanagan Similkameen Healthy Living Coalition representatives, and the Faculty of Management staff.
Argus Properties is sponsoring $75,000 for the next 5 years to this entrepreneurial initiative to support students in their real-life education in business. The 1st place winning team received $5,000, and the two runner-ups receive $1,500 each. The winning team not only received $5000, but their name will be engraved onto the Argus Cup. The winners are: Brenden Watt, Karen Noy, Kaylin Westbrook, Kirsten Rancier, Russell Hoefsloot, and Russel Jarvis.
