MS Bike Ride 2018
The MS Bike Ride on September 8th and 9th, 2018 was a huge success! The smoke cleared to bring bright blue skies for the fundraisers who were ready to bike distances of up to 100 km in support of multiple sclerosis. The bikers wound their way through the beautiful streets and paths past Lake Okanagan, and through the wineries, taking a sip and spit, to continue on to a greatlunch at the Vibrant Vine on Saturday. Breakfast, lunch and dinner was served on Saturday, followed by a delicious pancake breakfast on Sunday.
MS Bike is the largest fundraising cycling series in North America and it’s the experience of a lifetime! When you ride with MS Bike, you join the country’s collective effort to help improve the lives of Canadians affected by MS. The dollars raised are invested in world-leading MS research happening right here in Canada that will bring us closer to the first treatment for progressive MS and ultimately a cure for the disease.
Dignitaries like Norm Letnick, MLA, Steve Thompson, Maxine Dehart and Mohini Singh came out to speak at the Rona parking lot (the main sponsor of the event) to show their support, and to congratulate the efforts of fundraisers, volunteers and organizers for doing such great work for an important cause.
The online goal for the MS fundraiser is $115,000, and so far, the MS fundraisers have raised 83% of the total goal.
There were 20 teams who participated, and 123 cyclists.
