30th Annual Innkeeper’s Gala Surpasses $1,000,000 in Donation to the KGH Foundation

November 22, 2019

2019 Innkeeper’s Gala celebrated the event’s 30th Anniversary with an evening of food, fundraising and  entertainment themed “Million Dollar Masquerade,” benefiting the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation

The 30th Annual Innkeeper’s Gala themed “Million Dollar Masquerade,” took place last Saturday November 16, 2019 at Eldorado Resort – Hotel Eldorado. The Innkeeper’s Gala raised $84,080, making it the largest fundraising year for the Gala. “We are pleased to have been able to raise the bar at this year’s Innkeeper’s Gala and further strengthen our community partnership with KGH,” said Eldorado Resort’s General Manager, Brent Lavery. The event exceeded all expectations and it has now surpassed one million dollars in donations over its thirty-year history to the Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) Foundation. This beloved community fundraiser was started by the Nixon family in 1989 and its legacy was not only continued but elevated under the stewardship of President and CEO of Argus Properties Limited, Ted Callahan, who took ownership of Hotel Eldorado in 2014.

This year’s Gala saw over 200 attendees, including the Chief Executive Officer of the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation, Doug Rankmore, who came out to support the cause donned in their masks and matching ensembles. On theme with this year’s event, the arrival entourage included a phantom and masquerade stilt walkers, welcoming guests ushering them onto the red carpet for a photo opportunity and roving mime characters in costume entertaining guests throughout the venue. “The KGH Foundation is so grateful for the support provided through the Innkeeper’s Gala year after year. This is an important event for us and for the community. To see so many people show up each year to celebrate this great tradition is a lovely reminder of how generous and supportive this community is. And how important the leadership provided by the Eldorado each year is to the community. What an amazing way to kick off a season of giving,” expressed Rankmore regarding the event.

Upon entering the Hotel Eldorado guests were treated to 8 food stations skillfully executed by Hotel Eldorado’s culinary team including a dessert display featuring over 50 sweet delights all made in-house. Nine local winery partners were on-site serving up their finest wine-parings to complement the carefully crafted culinary journey, with a notable mention to Summerhill Pyramid Winery’s Ice Bar. The Gala’s excitement continued throughout the evening offering attendees a chance to take home one-of-a-kind Okanagan experiences through a silent auction, a live auction and a raffle draw, the highlight being a Wine Wall with over 170 of the Okanagan Valley’s finest wines. The energy in the room during the live auction was simply electric as guests all vied to bid on these coveted prizes helping Eldorado Resort cross the Million Dollar mark in donations.

Eldorado Resort – Hotel Eldorado celebrated another milestone in its legacy on November 16, 2019 with the launch of its own line of fine wine “Heirloom Red” & “Heirloom White”. Guests all received one bottle of each to take home, and they are now available for $35 + tax at Hotel Eldorado – Lakeside Dining and at Manteo – Smack DAB Restaurant.

The evening featured musical entertainment by Neville Bowman, Lyndsey Wong and The Jazz Pack as guests reconnected with colleagues, made new friends and truly celebrated as a community in support of a great cause. Festivities continued late into the night in the Eldorado Lounge with DJ Brian Mack who was also the Gala’s master of ceremonies, playing a mix of yesterday’s and today’s chart toppers as guests danced the night away and commemorated being a part of this historic fundraising Gala.

Eldorado Resort recognizes the integral part all of its partners and sponsors played in the grand success of 30th Annual Innkeeper’s Gala’s wishes to extend its sincere gratitude to them all. In particular, Eldorado Resort would like to recognize the Gala’s Grand Dame Sponsor, Castanet, a pillar of connecting the local community, for stepping up to ensure the legacy of this year’s Gala is immortalized.
